We believe gender diversity helps us to be externally connected and is the right thing to do.
At Lion, our core purpose is to enrich our world every day by championing
sociability and helping people to live well. At the heart of that is building a workplace that
celebrates diversity, inclusivity and equality.
Having an ambitious gender diversity target is a key part of this, and in September 2017 we
launched a revised target of a 50:50 gender mix by 2026. Ensuring that we have diverse and
inclusive teams is not only the right thing to do; it also increases diversity of thinking and this helps
us grow as a business.
Over the past two years we have increased our focus on Inclusion & Diversity, resulting in great
initiatives such as LionFlex, Families at Lion, Women at Lion and the important Competitive Pay work
which closed our gender pay gap. And while we’ve been making some good improvements, our
progress on gender balance was too slow when we know that gender diverse companies outperform
their peers by up to 15%.
To support our new gender diversity goal we have developed an Inclusion & Diversity policy, become
Pay Equity Ambassadors with the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, and we are refining a
comprehensive gender action plan. There are also a number of projects underway in our supply
chain, to encourage women to work at our manufacturing sites.
